THE RISING OF A STAR

I've been working with my teacher, Phil Ritson, for the past four years. We've been focused on making my swing as simple as possible. The goal is to swing with smoother rhythm while generating as much club head speed as I can through impact. When my swing is working well, I can focus on what I really enjoy the most, the intensity and pressure of tournament golf.

EFFORTLESS POWER

ANALYSIS BY PHIL RITSON (with Ron Kaspriske Photographs by Dom Furore)

When K.J. Choi came to see me in Orlando four years ago, it was apparent he had the talent to become one of the best golfers in the world. But the fact that he had been a weight lifter as a young man in South Korea was a deterrent to reaching that goal. He lacked the flexibility needed to swing the club most effectively and had the incorrigible habit of wanting to kill the ball. I have been working a lot with K.J. on rhythm drills, all related to creating effortless power.

K.J. focuses on the rotation of the right side during the backswing, with his right shoulder making a 110-degree turn from where it started at address. Combined with a proper weight shift onto the right leg, this pulling force creates power by coiling the body and creating tension.

But it's not all about power. Controlling the ball is important, too. We also have been working on keeping the top of K.J.'s left arm connected to his body on the backswing and downswing. He had a tendency to let the left arm drift away from the body, and that caused the club to be laid off during the backswing and downswing, with the clubface slightly open at impact.

Developing a smooth, powerful swing is important, but I should add that K.J.'s upbringing has played a huge role in his improvement. K.J. has that same strong mental discipline that I've seen in many South Korean players. Combine that with his natural talent, and you can see why I think he's on his way to greatnes.

Phil Ritson, who has been an instructor for 60 years, founded the Phil Ritson Golf Your Way Studio at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla. In addition to Choi, his roster of students includes six Korean-born LPGA Tour players.

témoignage de Phil Rtson

" It's MAGIC ! " said Ritson when he first tried it.
Swing MAGIC - homeSWINGtrainer was born.

Windermere Golf Club, Orlando, Florida – Juin 1991 By Philippe NOEL, inventor of the SwingMAGIC - homeSWINGtrainer.

When I first met Phil Ritson, we had schedule half an hour meeting. Rison grabbed the prototype, had two swings and with a large smile said "IT'S MAGIC… you've got my secret".

He then had his assistant at the time Andy O'Brian, grand master professional, and a lefty player with a beautiful swing to train on the system.

Phil spent 4 hours working, training, coaching and explaining why and how the system would help any level of golfers, from beginners to professionals. The idea was so simple and so efficient, that he couldn’t stop talking about it.
To him this was THE BEST EVER SYSTEM TO :
